Remote flash test: fish tank: So it turns out that I can get the Nikon D50 to trigger the SB-800 flash remotely, if crudely. The basic idea is simple: set the camera to under-expose the image, and force the flash to fire at 1/16 power. Meanwhile, set the SB-800 to go off when it detects the camera’s flash going off. Fiddly, but it worked. Apparently the flash can also be triggered by the IR remote. Should try that next. Also, should try something more interesting than the fish tank. (Sorry, Mr-or-Mrs Fish.)
